Passo della Futa

Restaurant since 1890

Our restaurant was founded in 1890 by the Sozzi Poletti family and is now run by the sixth generation.
We are located at the peak of the Futa Pass, a height of 903 meters, in the upper Mugello Valley just north of Florence.

Our restaurant is an essential and popular stopping point for car, motorcycle  and cycling enthusiasts.  The road passing by our location was, in fact, the scene of epic sporting challenges such as the 1000 Miglia, the Mugello Road Circuit and the Giro d’Italia.

Our cuisine expresses the typicality of the Tuscan tradition, with many local products in our farm-to-table dishes such as artisan salami, ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, tagliatelle, the renowned fried chicken and of course grilled sausage, pork, veal chops and bistecca Fiorentina.  All strictly cooked over wood charcoal embers in our historic fireplace, in use for over a century.
Of course, the local Chianti wine is not left in the cellar, either.

Our restaurant has been and is a destination for entertainment, culture and Italian and international history.
We often host group events related to historic car and motorcycle clubs, as we have a large private parking lot overlooking the panoramic Santerno valley.

We are an ideal location for photo and video shooting for promotional purposes, often used by many specialized car magazines and even car companies.

The Futa Pass is also an integral part of the Via degli Dei, the popular hiking route that connects Bologna to Florence.
This ancient Roman road, also known as the Flaminia Minor, is walked by many enthusiasts every year.
